After the funeral

Ancestral rites and sacred journeys

For many Hindu families, obligation to the departed does not end with the funeral. For those who wish to complete it fully, the journey leads to Gaya and to Kashi.

MIFA arranges both journeys for Malaysian families: the travel, the priests, and the ceremonial arrangements at each site.

These are not tours. The point of the journey is the rites, and everything else exists to make sure the rites are performed properly, at the right places, without the family having to negotiate anything on arrival in a town they do not know.

Families come to this at different times. Some go within a year of a death. Some go decades later, for a grandparent whose rites were never completed because there was no money and no way to travel. Neither is late.

Most families have questions before they have plans, and many of the questions are ones they are reluctant to ask a priest. Ask us first.
